Publishing Panel: Coupon and Discount Settings

PUBNiTO platform offers a comprehensive discount scheme for books in its stores. Due to the nature of ePUB3 books which are heavily used by educational and training institutes, our discount is based on issuing coupons.

 

A coupon is a string of letters and numbers which is unique and may only be produced by PUBNiTO. Its use and lifetime are all determined when it is defined.

 

Publishin Panel admins and Platform owners are able to define coupons in collaboration with their vendors. Coupons can be either given to pre-determined set of users (such as students of a school) or be advertised in various social media channels.

 

The following is a step-by-step guide to define and use coupons.

 

Step 1: Create a Discount

 

Define Discount

 

Go to your PUBNiTO Book Store Administrator Panel (you should have admin or owner access)

Select Discounts from the side menu.

Click on Create New Discount


Start adding a title for your discount

Add a description




How Much Discount?

 

Next you need to decide how much discount you wish to give.


PUBNiTO lets you use any of these three options:

Amount only: Give a fixed amount of discount. For example, $15


Percentage only: Give a percentage off sales value. For example, 25%

Amount and Percentage: For example, you might give $10 discount but also specify that the discount cannot be more than 15% of sales value. So, the lower of amount and percentage will be used to give discount.

Whose Share?

 

Next, you need to decide who bears the cost of discount.


There are three options

Organization (Platform) Only

Vendor(s) Only

Organization and Platform

When?

 

Next, you need to decide when the discount starts and when it finishes.


No start no end: valid until cancelled by store admin/owner

Starts on a certain date but runs until it is cancelled by store admin/owner

Valid from now until certain date

Valid from specified date until set date

How Many?

 

Last, you will define how many coupons to be created, and how many times each coupon can be used.


Coupon Count

You can decide number of coupons that you wish to be created. Of course, you need to have more than zero.


Coupon Limit

 

Decide how many times each coupon can be applied.

 

If you leave this empty, it is similar to putting 1


A zero limit actually means unlimited number of times.

Any other value, will determine number of times that each coupon can be applied.

Finished creating a Discount

 

You are now done with this step. Click on Save Discount

  

Step 2: Add Books to be Discounted

 

Discounted Books

You can decide which books may receive the discount, if you wish. If you do not wish to restrict the discount to specific books, then you can skip this step.

 

Click on Discounts books items from the Discount side menu

Click on Add Discount Book Items


This will open the following windows which lets you pick a book, and add it as a discounted item.

Repeat this process to add more books, if required.







In this example, we have added just one book:


Step 3: Add Book Bundles to be Discounted

 

In this step, you can do as per step 2, but this time add book bundles.

 

Step 4: Restrict Discount to Certain Users

 

You can decide whether a discount is for all users, or certain users. For example, you may wish to offer a textbook to only students of a specific grade in a high school. You can list these students as pre-determined users of the discount.

Alternatively, you can skip this step, and keep the discount open to all users.

 

Add discount user items

Click on Discounts users in the Discount side menu

Click on Add discount user Items



Follow as shown in these images to add one or more users.







You can always see list of added users.


Step 5: Check and Manage Coupons

 

This is the final step. Here you can see list of coupons that you have created, add to them, and copy to distribute them.

 

Check Coupons

 

Click on the Coupons in the Discount side menu


In the main window, you will see

  • Coupon code or codes. You can copy this or these and distribute them.
  • Number of coupons
  • Number of used coupons
  • Number of remaining coupons

 

You can click on the user icon on the right-hand side to see who, if any user has already used coupons.

Or click on delete to delete the coupon.

 

WARNING: YOU MAY ONLY DELETE OR EDIT A COUPON BEFORE ANYONE USES IT

 

Add Discount Coupon Item

 

In our example, we have only added one coupon, which can be applied 1000 times. However, we may add to this and create more of the same coupon.

 

In the following we are adding 5 more coupons, and thus end up with having 6 coupons, and each may be used up to 1000 times.

The next few images show that a user is buying a book and uses the coupon and successfully received the discount.

Now, check list of coupons and see that a coupon has been used once and even see who has used it.


Delete or Modify Coupons and Items

 

So long as no one has used a coupon for the first time, elements of the coupon as listed in the image can be edited or deleted.

 

As soon as first use of the coupon is made, you can no longer change any of its features.

 

However, you can always refer to the main list of discounts, per below and deactivate a discount and stop its further use. A deactivated discount can be activated in future.

1. How can I create a discount using coupons on the PUBNiTO platform?
Navigate to your PUBNiTO Book Store Administrator Panel, select "Discounts" from the side menu, click on "Create New Discount," add a title and description, specify the discount amount or percentage, decide who bears the cost, set the discount duration, number of coupons, and their usage limit, then save the discount.

Access the "Discounted Books" section from the Discount side menu to choose particular books for the discount. For book bundles, follow similar steps but select bundles instead.

Yes, you can add pre-determined users, such as students of a specific grade, to the discount by accessing "Discounts users" from the Discount side menu.

5. Where can I manage and check the list of created coupons?
Go to the "Coupons" section in the Discount side menu. Here, you can view the coupon codes, the number of coupons, the number used, remaining coupons, and even view users who have used the coupons.

6. Can I edit or delete coupons after they've been used?
No, once a coupon is used for the first time, its features cannot be changed or deleted. However, before any use, elements of the coupon can be edited or deleted. Deactivated discounts can be reactivated in the future.

7. How do I distribute coupons to users?
You can copy the coupon codes from the main window in the "Coupons" section and distribute them to users.
